When I Grow Up..

No matter HOW old we get, we always have that feeling.. You know that feeling that I'm speaking of..
Slipping into our mom's platforms..Trying on her makeup & lipstick while she's out with her girls.
We always say that... thing.. "When I grow up..."
It never gets old..
For me, the statement, "When I grow up" plants my future..It secures it kind of..
And I know it may seem a tad bit immature and unrealistic, but everyday I kind of have that, "When I grow up" feeling..Hence, the fact that I'm already 20 years old - & quite grown.
But why do we this? We do we feel like we have to be secure in something or another? Well, for one.. Security is our throne..It's where we rest our heads at night..It's where we eat breakfast, raise our children, and prop our feet up when it's time to rest. We are never to old to dream..And say,"When I grow up, I want to be a writer! When I grow up, I want to be a dentist - or a porn star, Lol.. *God forbid*"
I think it's just natural to say that..
In my blog-post you will see A LOT about dreams..whether it's day-dreams, or night-dreams..I dream a lot..About my future because Im honestly VERY scared for it.
I'm not your average 20 year old..
My senior year, I didn't write a list of goals that I wanted to accomplish by the time that I turned 21..
This isn't the direction I wanted this blog-post go, but whatever right?
I'm still saying, "When I grow up" because it's actually the only hope I have right now..

When I grow up, I want to be James Baldwin...or, or.. Common.
When I grow up, I want to be Erykah Badu - I want to walk around ass naked for a reason.. I want to shed every mishap and bad personality that clings to my shoulder-blades..
When I grow up, I want to matter.
When I grow up, I want to be grown up.. Not having to depend on anyone for $.
When I grow up, I want a family..
A beautiful family.

So take time out of your day to think about what you want to do when you grow up...Because being in college doesn't ensure you a profession..It betters your chances though.
Remember, people can take away anything they want from you - But they can't take away your mind. It's yours..to keep.
